Startup Maryland Helmets … Talisman / Icons of Maryland Pride

All in an effort to connect with potential investors, partners and mentors, some Maryland entrepreneurs with hopes of making their new business idea the “next big thing” have been getting on a bus that looks like a big rolling Maryland flag. It’s the the Start-Up Maryland Pitch Bus during its inaugural tour and celebration of entrepreneurship and it rolled into Aberdeen in September 2012 with plenty of bright eyed Harford County entrepreneurs waiting at the HEAT Center ready to tell their stories.

The goal of each of these entrepreneurs is to tell a story about their start up business that just might be seen by venture capitalist’s and others who could potentially help them grow their businesses. Over the last several weeks this bus has attracted some of the best and brightest new entrepreneurs from across Maryland. The bus is equipped with a mobile recording studio where entrepreneurs like those in Aberdeen come on board to record their 3-5 minute “pitch” about their innovation/business. These pitches were then uploaded to a competition site for entry into a state-wide video business pitch competition.

The last stop on the Pitch Across Maryland state-wide bus tour and state-wide pitch competition was Friday, September 28, 2012  at Merriweather Post Pavilion In Columbia. It being billed as a day-long celebration of entrepreneurship and Maryland’s Innovation Economy and featured a variety of fun entrepreneurial activities including an opportunity to enter the Pitch Across Maryland Contest, listen to live music, and hear inspirational entrepreneurial speakers while connecting with other members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
