Pitch Across Maryland Tour Serves as Backdrop for Celebration of the
Culinary Side of Work-Life Balance
August 18, 2016: All Points, Maryland –Startup Maryland and LAUNCH! Annapolis today announced a teaming relationship under which both organizations present the Maryland Open Bloody-Mary and Crab-Soup Competitions. Contested over two rounds, the Maryland Open will be held during the Pitch Across Maryland tour and celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Round One begins on Saturday, September 10 during a tailgate at the Washington College. Round One continues the following week Saturday, September 17 during a tailgate at the Frostburg University. The Final Round will be announced during the Pitch Across Maryland final tour stop at the United States Naval Academy.
“The Maryland Open was conceived as a cocktail napkin idea after a Preakness Black-Eyed Susan Day tailgate party also co-hosted by Startup Maryland and LAUNCH! Annapolis ,” stated Michael Binko, Founder of Startup Maryland. “Celebrating the spirit of work-hard, play-hard embodied by our State’s entrepreneurs, the Maryland Open is intended to be a fun and informal competition where we answer the following burning question: ‘Other than crab-cakes, football (and startups); What Else Does Maryland Do?!’”
The number of participant-candidates will be limited to the first eight (8) registered here and checked-in at each Round One location in each category – bloody-mary and crab-soup. Interested participant-candidates must BOTH register here by noon September 1, 2016 AND then check-in starting no earlier than three hours before official game-time at their preferred Round One location. Participants will be based on a first-come/first-served basis at each Round One location.
