Separately, Startup Maryland also announced the winners of the Fan Favorite competition:

Startup Maryland added the Fan Favorite award to the pitch competition to keep the awareness and celebration aspects of the tour at a high level. Videos for all 168 entrants can be viewed here.

“These videos are a testament to the strength, dedication and diversity of Maryland’s entrepreneurial community,” says Startup Maryland Co-Chair Mike Binko. “When we launched the Pitch Across Maryland tour we thought we might have 40-50 entrepreneurs join us on the Tour Bus and pitch, so 168 is phenomenal. Including all the rallies and events we held more than 200 startups actually participated in the tour.”

“The Pitch Across Maryland tour, which ran from September 11 – 28, 2012, held celebration and promotional rallies at 25 stops throughout the state of Maryland,” added Julie Lenzer Kirk, Startup Maryland Co-Chair. “Culminating in the Last Stop, First Step party and celebration event at Merriweather Post Pavilion on September 28th this Tour has rightly placed the spotlight on the vitality in Maryland’s innovation economy.”

Gov. O'Malley Joins Startup MD Tour …

Gov. Martin J. O’Malley joins Startup Maryland Board Co-Chairs Michael Binko and Julie Lenzer Kirk for a personal conversation aboard the Pitch Across Maryland Tour bus.

In fact, to show his support and solidarity for the entrepreneurs who are “pitching” their businesses during the state-wide tour, Gov. O’Malley graciously agreed to jump on “the host seat” to deliver his own pitch on the topic of InvestMaryland.

Gov. O’Malley then joined the Startup Maryland team and representatives from TEDCO, Baltimore County, Howard County and DBED for the ride to UMBC’s BWTech Research Center and Incubator campus.

Another summary video from The Daily Record (the leading daily business news outlet in MD) highlighted the diversity of innovation and highlights from the first half of the Pitch Across Maryland Tour.

There UMBC’s Ellen Hemmerly was joined by RMI’s Mike Galiazzo, and Miles and Stockbridge’s Bob Brennan as co-hosts for the 12th Tour Stop. Eight entrepreneurs then joined the team on the bus to record video “pitches” of their businesses and innovations.

These pitches will be added to the others collected during the Pitch Across Maryland tour and entered into the online Competition which continues into October and November.
